In the late 1970s I was employed on the London underground as train crew. During a trip to Glasgow I managed to wangle my way in to the Subway car sheds where I was made to feel very welcome. Even the sense of humour was similar.
This was only a couple of years before the system was shut down and rebuilt to emerge as “The Clockwork Orange”.
